Don't know what to think! Are we getting what we were quoted for? Contract for Infinity 38YDB037/Infinity control/Infinity Air Handler FV4BNF005000/F300 Cleaner, what was installed was Bryant 698BNX/Infinity control/FE4AN Air Handler/F300 Cleaner.
We were in no big hurry to have the system installed but they said that to qualify for the rebate they needed to make the change and they are the same units, they don't look the same!
Now that I have a rebate form (have not signed yet) I see that they had until July 31 to install and wonder what the big hurry was. No price change was offered but the Bryant looks like a cheaper unit to me is it?

they are similar but not the same, in a sense, carrier is more effiecient and quieter and that original air handler they quoted you was not the infinity a/h it was just the variable speed a/h the infinity wourld start with an fe not fv better call them both units are good but bryant is still a lesser quality unit

Bryant vs Carrier
Cosmetic differences basically; however, the Bryant is sold to the contractor at a lesser price.

Thank you so much for your help, so hard to tell what is going on with this install. I have read that the Carrier units have been hard to get a hold of, but it would have been nice if they would have been more upfront about it, it that is the real issue. It feels like they are trying to pull a bait and switch on us. Hopefully the company that installed it will rectify the situation without too much animosity we did purchase a ten year warranty from them.

They need to install what they put in writing,
Or switch with your consent. Other wise I would stop the payment on the check. Till the unit they qouted is installed or an adjustment on price has been made.If you try to fail, and succeed.
Which have you done ?

Help,
I just had a system installed a few weeks ago so I know from experience that the model and model # should be clearly stated on the contract. Unfortunately, I think the old bait and switch has already taken place. I know if that was done to me, I would be really pissed, so I feel for you. Me,I would get a lawyer, have the guy take out the unit and go elsewhere to have to have the Carrier system you want installed.

Thanks for your good wishes Vinced, the good news to this whole thing is that we have not completed payment on the system. But, they keep trying to convince us that the two units are really the same. Made a trip to a showroom today and saw the new Bryant unit. Funny thing it looks a lot more like the Carrier Infinity now. Also, found out that the Carrier Infinity 17 that they contracted to install has been discontinued and not available for 6 weeks now. Amazing how it gets to be such a can of worms, I think that they went to the distributor when they were in the middle of the install and just took what was left, the proposal and contract was for a 3 ton and installed was a 4 ton.

Disregard. Here it is:
https://www.carriercoolcash.com/carrier/welcome.do
"Unit(s) must be purchased between March 1 and May 31, 2006 and installed before July 31, 2006 to qualify. All claims must be processed by 6:00pm CST on August 11, 2006 in order to qualify for Carrier's Cool Cash rebate."

The latest chapter of this saga, we were informed yesterday that the Carrier unit the 38YDB037 that we signed the contract for in April was discontinued and hasn't been available for about 6 weeks! Is this correct?
