Hmm Blue Jean Insulation: What are your thoughts?

Found above product, basically they take old blue jeans and turn them into R-13 rated wall insulation.

    No fiberglass, so no itch!

What are your thoughts, has anyone seen this or used?

I worked on a house about 5 years ago that used this stuff. I don't know the actual R value ( 2 X 6 exterior walls ) but I have to say that the house is incredibly efficient and comfortable . I'm no expert on insulation , but this stuff was a pleasure to work around , it has insane density for sound ...I would consider this if I were building a house.

Enertech manufacturing did use it on their water source heat pumps to insulate the cabinet. Not r13 of course, it was about 1/2" thick. Not sure if they still do? Knave???

Saw it on TV when someone suggested it and asked the manufacturer for the left over materials. I would use it in my house and monitor or measure moisture content and other possible unforseen elements. Good idea. Only time can tell.

Well, being a plant based product (cotton) I would wonder if the Boron treatment would repel insects? How about break down over time? 20 years from now will it be like old paper (blown in) insulation?

at the last class I think Brian said they quit.... The insulation on the new series doesn't seem like that type of material....
