Thread: Vent Temp

  1. #1

    Confused

    2 part question.

    1. What should the temperature be at the vents with my home A/C?

    2. What should the temperature be of the Freon line outside next to the unit?

Thanks so much, my AC doesn't seem to be cooling my house very well.

Have you changed your air filter recently.

Have you had it serviced this year yet.

Call your contractor and have them fix it.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

    Had them here today

I changed the filters this week. I had the Technician here today. My home A/C just doesn't seem to be able to keep up. It is 87 degrees with 42% humidity today and my house is 80 and can't drop lower.

He said everything looks fairly normal and he cleaned out the outside unit. He said the fins were very dirty and that it should help. That was 3 hours ago and the temp has still not dropped.

The one concern he had was that there is some piston that should be a size "93" according to unit but is actually a "90". Does this help?

House is 2200 sqft with a 5 Ton Carrier Unit.

You need to find out how much air your getting thru the vent. If you cannot see the evapoator.
There is a electric heat formula by checking the power meter to tell how many watts your unit is using and knowing the tempature difference between the return an supply.
Carrier is bad about looking clean and not letting anything through so I do not try the math /could not do it anyway I start with cleaning the coil.
Then your ready to check tempatures.

both answers are variable, it will depend on load (latent and sensible heat), outdoor ambient temp., and airflow as stated above.
