    Acid test kit

How many still use the AK-3 with AK-16 solution for mineral oil?
Found out recently that Sporlan doesn't make the solution anymore.
Are you guys using the one shot bottles or just relying on oil analysis results to get the TAN?

I never have put much faith in the acid test kit. I always found that if it smelled bad the test would only confirm my guess. I put more faith in the experts that test oil for a living, than a $15 sample kit.

What? So that they can dip the litmus paper in and charge you instead?

Interesting,, I have never had much faith in the oil analysis Co's.
In a previous life I sent my samples to SFI, now I send them to Rocky Research.
Can't say I am impressed with Rocky's reports, but haven't really used them long enough to find any inconsistencies with wear metals, but I have seen the TAN way off on some YT's I sent in.
Several YT's reports came back with normal TAN from Rocky Research when the AK-16 tested out at about 14-15 drops.
