    vac pump rebuild?

I got 5 vac pumps from my tech school 3 robinair and 2 JB eliminator
that I guess that don't pull down low enough vacuums. I figured I might be able to do something to maybe get one out of them. I also heard you can buy a rebuild for them.
What goes bad on them normally or is it even worth it to maybe rebuild?

Years ago when I priced the "rebuild" kit for a Yellow Jacket 6cfm pump, it was about 2/3 the cost of a new pump, so I just bought a new pump.
I don't know about other brands, but with YJ, it is the entire vacuum cartridge and some seals.

I ended up taking the old pump appart, including disassembling the vacuum cartrige, cleaned everything really good, oiled it all up and reassembled it.
It worked great, not quite as good as a new pump, but was a good backup.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

I'll give cleaning them a try. Also gonna see what maybe a rebuild kit would run for them too. Thanks!
