Condensate trap.
Where is a condensate trap located on a steam coil?

There is no condensate trap. The steam pressure, gravity, and/or maybe a pump will move the condensate without a trap. You may want to trap the steam, though.

Don't mess with the guy. As the steam goes through the coil it's being condensed and when it leaves as water it's trapped so no steam leaves the return back to the boiler. You can measure the temp of the condensate leaving the trap to make sure it's not leaking steam. They often do.
There are different kinds of traps but they all do the same thing, trap steam.Tracers work both ways.
