Buddy, you missed your calling. Give up HVAC and become a photojournalist. That picture is excellent. The junk in the yard, the pit bull, hack hvac work, you captured it all. Contractor probably installed it there because there is too much junk inside the house.Jason

Yes, it runs up through the soffit into a great big open attic. Granted the soffit is around 30" deep. (i know, wierd) The attic space would have been an awesome job to do, high roof line, walk boards hell it even had great lighting throughout! But they figured out a better way...

I recently repaired a leak on a 16 ton Rheem split system. The air handler was installed about 8' from the condenser. It was installed outdoors with no cover, rusted up nicely though.

At least they eliminated the possibility of a condensate leak in the attic...
