Looks like what I did last month.

Customer had a side discharge RTU that needed replacement. Roof products salesman sold him a roof coating that was 6" thick and coated up to RTU panels. Pullung this would have left a huge hole on roofing.

I told customer, let's leave it and put new RTU over duct-roof penetration.

    Whats wrong with that?

I had initially thought this too, but realized there doesn't seem to be a gas line...wouldn't really matter...lol

I think the unit on the left is just sitting there. It was previously installed on the curb to the right, but they took it off and set it aside and put a new unit on.

    Bad Jobs

I'm sure you have all seen the pic of the compressor bolted to a piece of plywood outside the condensing unit and piped in? Works

Looks like the vent is pointing down towards the fresh air intake on the left hand unit....you are still blowing hot air into the unit regardless of gas or electric causing the system to work harder.

I'm not a tech so I may be way out in left field somewhere.

Is that an access door open on the unit on the right? In that case, there is a fine example of gravity cooling, the cold air dropping right down the return if that's the filter/blower section.
