I recently switched from a honeywell builder's grade thermostat to a Robertshaw 9715i. I was getting very short cycles (7-8 mins) from honeywell and now get 30-35 min run times with new Robertshaw thermostat. I have noticed that the yellow AUX light comes on from time to time during the cooling call. I know the stat is wired correctly (have triple checked it). I have a simple 1 cool/1 heat gas furnace with 5 wires coming into the stat (C,R,Y,G,W). Any ideas as to what would trigger this light to come on? Thanks for the help in advance.

The only thing that comes to mind is it's a multi-stage stat, and is calling for a second stage of cooling(even though there isn't one). I have the 9720.
If everything was always done "by the book"....the book would never change.

Yep, sounds like it's calling for the second stage, (which doesn't exist on your system) It's a 2 stage stat, so go in to the user settings and change your second stage differential to the max ( pretty sure it's 3 degrees) and set the time to 35 minutes. Should take care of seeing the "aux" light.
