What are my chances of getting hired with a 17 year old felony

It could depend on the co. client. And what was the felony for. Example, if your hiring company contracted banks. And your crime of choice was robbery. Then, your chances are slim to none. Not trying to bust your bubble, but you still can find employment. Residential is a more forgiving than commercial. I've seen residential companies asking for just a clean DMV record and pass a piss test. Hope you luck. I believe in second chances.

DWI- Chances are good
Drugs- Chances are bad
Murder- Maybe
Rape- Promoted to regional manager on the spot

A lot of places these days will run background checks, especially the customers. I have in the neighborhood of a dozen badges in my truck, all of them came with a background check.

The felony will limit where you can work but you can get hired. I accidentally saw the background check results at my company, around 25% can't work at a certain location, I don't know why but they are barred.

So the answer is "Yes", you should have no problems getting hired but it will limit where you can work.

Hi Hewitt,
Did you learn from your mistake?
Did you clean up your act after and work hard to be a better person?

With you saying that it occurred 17 years ago, I think my two questions have been answered. Everyone deserves a second chance, words are easy it is finding an employer to see that you have mended your ways.

You must take a positive attitude and move forward to prove that you deserve your second chance.
I think the right employer will give you the opportunity.

It depends on what type of position you seek, and what type of work the company does. A company who does work for the federal goverment a lot, probably not. A company that does commercial new construction should be eaiser. marketplace in your area helps too. if its busy it will be easier than if its slow.
