Brand new home want to change HVAC - York to Lennox ?

    Hi all,

I'm about to purchase a brand new build home. Air quality is important to me. My goal was to have a zoned system, but the brain trust that built this home did not zone it. First thing I noticed when I walked to the basement was how cold it was. That being said, to install zoning will be a nightmare (tearing up basement ceiling and so forth) because there is only one supply run with ducts running from that main supply to all areas of the home. I hope to install a modulating furnace to hopefully even out the temperature throughout the home.

Here is what is currently installed:

    1. York TM9X 100C20MP11A (single speed / single stage - definitely not comfortable) - 100,000 BTU

    2. Air Conditioner - YCJF 36 - 3 ton unit (I believe).

The house is about 2500 square feet with high ceilings (10 foot in the basement). I believe the furnace is way oversized.

Zoning is out of the question unfortunately due to the work involved in ripping up drywall. My current home has a Lennox SLP98V with a Trane A/C unit. The comfort is amazing although humidity is a problem in the summer.

I'm thinking of ripping out the York TM9X and installing an SLP98V since it is the furnace I am most familiar with. I also would like to install an HRV. Here are my questions:

    A) Is the York YP9C comparable to the Lennox SLP98V? The SLP98V doesn't modulate down, but I'm assuming the York does not as well as I don't see it having a special thermostat like the Carrier.

    B) I know on the SLP98V I can interlock the HRV so when the HRV is on the SLP98V circulates air at a low setting (so it circulates fresh air throughout the home). Can the York do this as well? Will probably go with a Vanee Gold HRV with the upgraded thermostat (the HRV control will be separate - I only want it to be interlocked to the furnace fan so that it will turn on when the HRV turns on).

    C) Do I need a 2 stage A/C unit to use a dehumidification setting on the thermostat in the summer? (I understand the compressor will start but the variable speed fan on the furnace will operate at a lower CFM so as to dehumidify the air). I called the installer who put the current unit into the home and he I need to replace the A/C unit with a 2-stage model because the coil will freeze during a call for dehumidification - but I don't trust him already seeing as I feel he massively oversized the current furnace.

... that's all I can think of for now. Just want to have the most comfortable home possible without zoning, and I know I can't do that with the current single stage / single speed setup.

    Thanks all

The lennox furnace can be used with yhe york coil and condenser ,i would use a honeywell iaq thermostat and have it wired to slow the blower for dehumidification and run the hrv

If I set it to slow the blower for dehumidification - will the coil not freeze since it is a single stage A/C condenser? Don't I need a 2-stage A/C for dehumidification at slower blower speed?
