slab coils & horizontal coils
hello all
I am relatively new to the field and was wondering what applications you would use a slab coil and a horizontal coil, I normally do very basic and simple residential a/c system installs when I do a/c work and have come across some catalogs for slab coils and I have to be honest I am not sure when or why you would use them
Not ashamed to ask I am just curious,
thanks

Normally it's a decision made by the installer in accordance with space needs. As long a both types of coil are matched to the rest of the system, it really makes not difference mechanically. So as I stated, if the length of a box horizontal unit won't work, then a slab would be the likely substitute.
If YOU want change, YOU have to first change.
If you are waiting for the 'other guy' to change first, just remember, you're the 'other guy's' other guy. To continue to expect real change when you keep acting the same way as always, is folly. Won't happen. Real change will only happen when a majority of the people change the way they vote!

Slab coils tend to be much more easier to service ( cleaning and inspection purposes). Nice for inspection of heat exchangers and static readings. We use slab coils for everything if at all possible or if it's a vertical installation .
