    Hi gang,

We're remodeling a 400 sq foot apartment over a detached garage. This will be my home office. My wife doesn't want the expense of a conventional HVAC unit, nor the costs even of a mini-split unit. So I guess I'm now researching good quality window units.

I need something that will both cool and heat. Someone mentioned to me that I need a "heat pump window unit" but I've been unable to find anything like this.

Does this sort of thing exist? If so, what are some brands or models I can look at? Pro's and con's of this sort of thing?

    Thanks!

the GE J-chassis aren't too bad, fairly quiet. You can build them in the wall so you don't lose a window.
