I posted this over in Technical and am getting roasted so I thought I'd give this forum a chance. Maybe one of you guys will really help me. Looking for construction register hole covers that allow air flow but keep dirt and junk out. I thought I saw something like this in Jobsite mag but can't find last months copy. I know it's bad to run furnace as temp heat and I would never think of doing such a heinous thing...........................but if you know of such a thing I would appriciate a heads up.

The dealer who put in my parents system put them, and I asked what that was for, they used them to keep crap out of ductwork when sheetrocker rocks the house.

Here's what we use, I posted same pic in Tech, it's plastic window screen that the cleaning crews rip open to dump their sweepings in:

Stupid drywallers. Hows that screen thing work? All the builders run the furnaces in the winter for the drywallers and all the crap ends up in the floor boots. I just want to find a cover that allows air flow and keeps the junk out. Its not just the drywall thats the problem though. Every trade that are in the house through junk on the floor that ends up in the boots. Doug you are right a lot of it is sweep in by the cleaning crew because they are stupid too.

Probably see why you got roasted.
You can put the covers to keep crap from falling into the ductwork.
Push warranty is void when used as a construction heater. Effective when you work directly for the owners, tough when you work as a sub to the GC.
The way we build has a greater impact on our comfort, energy consumption and IAQ than any HVAC system we install.

When I'm doing work directly for home owners I can usually get them to listen to the voice of reason. Builders don't really care just get the job done as cheaply as possible.
I tryed the electric furnace thing a couple of times and both times caught he77 from builders over the electric bill.I am the "Wally". All others are meer imitations of the original.
