    HZ322 Panel and Emergency Heat

Our Trane air handler has a HZ322 zone panel installed on it. How does the "emergency heat" button operate? Does it turn on auxiliary heat permanently or just for 1 heating cycle? Does it shutoff the Trane heat pump compressor? Just looking for an explanation for what this button does and if I will ever have a need to use it. Thanks.

This is a question for your installer. It depends on how the units and board are wired.

When set to emergency heat. it only runs the aux heat. The heat pump won't operate.

    Thanks.

The installation was done 4 years ago and the contractor has gone out of business.
