So what electrical test would you do to prove that there are faulty valves inside a compressor?

I thought one could test the RUN CURRENT against the specs of the compressor

  4. relationship between power absorption and RUN Current for a refrigerator compressor

I'd like to get the input of the more technically minded out there.
I looked at the specs of a compressor, and this is what was published:

    Power (HP) 1/8

  5. Power consumption of freezer compressor

I tested the power consumption of the freezer compressor it is 0.3 amps x 220V = 66W The specifications say that it should draw 74w.... so this may be a clue..
I get a similar reading for the fridge...

    Thanks for this tip.
I did not even think of testing the wattage. I thought that if the valves were faulty I'd hear some undue noise from the compressor.
I guess I should do that when it boots up...

I can only guess that a few pounds of butane so close to a hot motor is a recipe for a fire.
European laws prohibit the use of more than 150g or 1/3 pound in a circuit. Hence it is used in fridges...
  15. HFO-1234yf / R1234yf Fire and subsequent Hydrogen Fluoride release risks

The documentation I read from the EPA declared 1234yf as a very safe mildly flammable refrigerant with low GWP (global warming potential) and ODP (ozone depletion potential)

    Then I read the...
