Was just at the nordyne factory about a month ago. They do not make their own microchannel coils. They come from china.
Said they would possibly start making their own as more of their product...
What is currently in the fireplace? Just a log lighter or is there an actual set of gas logs in there? If it is just a log lighter then you need to get the whole gas log assembly which would include...
GeoComfort is a great unit.
Also most electric co-ops here offer a discounted rate for heating, usually half the regular rate. The county I live in the heat rate is 5.5 cents per kwh. I know of others where it is 4 cents per...
Come to South Dakota we need good techs!! Great fishing, hunting, and camping if you are an outdoors person. The winters get a little cold, however, right now I am turning work down because I can't...
You burnt the plywood in pic 5. :grin2:
Looks really good. I would be happy with that in my basement.
I was approached to become a dealer for them - I am so glad that I did not get tangled up with them
I have never had problems with the ones I have installed. The units are very quiet.
It could be a problem-you need to post full model numbers of both pieces of equipment in order for us to tell you for sure.
Ask your contractor how he came up with the sizes you listed. If he says anything other than a manual j load calculation I would be leary of going with his recommendations.
Thats good diagnosic info there LOL
My coworker always tries to imitate sounds-usually he ends up getting mad at us when we make him repeat it about 4 or 5 times.
I'd love to go-but it is a little to long of a road trip for me!!
:ditto:
I would recommend a heat pump. I am also in the midwest and probably install five heat pumps to every one ac unit. I would double check your westinghouse heat pump quote though. Most two stage heat...
Our distributer also required us to be certified on IQ drive in order to buy it-I think Nordyne requires you to have taken the test to install it or get tech support on it (I was told anyway)
Awesome news
I have had ZERO problems with my set of 550's. I did buy the extra clamp-but cannot remember what it cost.
This is what I do, unless I know I am going to be outside most of the day. Then I have some pack boots I bought from cabelas.
I replaced 1 iaq due to a lightning strike. That was the only one i have had to replace.
:ditto:
:munching:
Tappan is a Nordyne brand. Warranty is good, the units themselves are built decent.
Private label furnaces are not uncommon. Find out who the mfg. is. They usually have the same warranty as the name brand equipment.
The menards bag in the third pic says it all.
I doubt the contractor even did a load calculation. Find a new contractor.
90,000 Btu heat loss is a pretty large heat loss for the size of house you have. I have done hundreds of load calcs and I am in South Dakota as well. Unless you have some serious insulation problems...
Had a call a couple months ago the HO smelled gas. Went over and checked it out-he had run his own gas line with csst he purchased from Menards to a new gas range. He purchased a 25 ft coil and just...

My vote is for gas
Then figure it out.
This is one piece of advice I wouldn't listen to.
Smith Quickbraze.
Very small and portable.
How big is your bedroom? 1 1/2 tons for one room is quite a bit.
Even though the inverter ramps the unit down I probably would have looked at a smaller unit.
How does it run at all with those two blue limit wires unhooked??
We are not a Heat and Glo dealer. I got called on this insert because the original installer would not come back. The distributer I called we do not have an account with, we just ocasionally buy...
Hey guys,
I attached a picture of an insert I worked on a few days ago. I cleaned it and changed the t-couple in it. I noticed that it had a crack on the floor of the firebox. I told them not to run...
Maybe this should be on the wall of shame, but I don't think anything built today will last as long as this.
I had to drain it down and replace the relief valve on it.

Here is the data...
Here are some pics from a new house that we had to bury some gasline at. One of our competitors is installing a fireplace there. It is a direct vent and the vent runs between the basement ceiling and...
Is your ductwork in the attic? If so I would check for leaks at the seams and areas that are missing insulation.
Maytag is made by Nordyne and has no affiliation with sears. The IQ Drive system that is made by Nordyne is extremely quiet, but is expensive!!

Tank pressure is rarely 250 psi ( that is what most relief valves are set to start discharging at), but the first stage regulator reduces tank pressure to 10 p.s.i. (in most cases).
Hey guys, I am installing a Monessen BDV400 and have a few questions about running the vent in a concealed location. This fireplace is being installed in a basement. To avoid using a snorkel, the HO...
Even a week early you will still have to deal with crowds and lots of bikes on the road. It seems alot of people think the same way as you.:D
Probably too late for the OP
LOL :D
A couple years of school, and a couple more years of on the job training and you should have the answer:)
Wow, the original post was from 2005!!
This takes care of 95% of the problems with these heaters. As you said, there is not a lot to these heaters. A good tech should be able to isolate the problem. I am not familiar with the "hot dawg"...
This tank is a 500 gal ASME tank. According to NFPA 58 it can be located a minimum of 10 ft away from a building, which this tank actually is. However it has to be 10 ft away from a source of...
