Okay I did not see a check valve looking device so i am going to have to check on that.
Luckily they had the motor tag left in the drive compartment and thankfully they did cause the parameters...
Good Morning,
Recently one of our good customers acquired a home up in the hills somewhere that has a pond, lots of irrigation, a home etc. Their water comes from a submersible well pump approx....
Sorry for the delayed update. I ended up ordering a new heating expansion valve.
Replaced it yesterday finally, system operations are normal.
Equalization line is blocked on the old valve body,...
No pressure drop from inlet and outlet on indoor coil
check valves are in the correct direction
I'm heading back out today in to take another look.
Cause I had the correct powerhead on my truck not the entire valve.
It’s an old air handler, we had a company make a coil that matches.
Looking for some suggestions on this guy.
its a TWA120, operations in cooling are spot on.
Heating season came along, we found that it was installed without a check valve bypassing the cooling...
Wait. It was pulling RLA and humming?
So like by humming do you mean it wasnt starting and locking up...
or humming like it was running.
Cause if it was running and your pressures are equalized...
Yeah running your compressor completely flat would surely damage it..
Might not happen all the time but its horrible for your compressor.
I second the idea on the pitch..
How new are the evaps?
Can you call the manufacture and get the proper motor RPM and pitch size?
Possible a few have been changed improperly over the years..
I have been using SMANs for the passed idk 3 years maybe?
I love them would never use any different.
Why not run a timer and make a time off defrost cycle?

I usually like 450 CFM heat pumps
3 degree subcooling sounds like you're low on charge...
If the indoor coils are icing up every week could be that they're just low on charge..
or the smaller...
Is your suction transducer calibrated properly? Compressors could be thinking they're bringing suction header that low but in reality they are shutting down too quickly?
Maybe im confusing my self here, but you said the TXV shuts down at -13'C.
As in completely slams shut? cause I think I found your problem?
You can use a TXV and a fan cycling controlling at the same time without issues, atleast to my knowledge.
However it is a dynamic system, so for the sake of charging or checking your superheat id...
Just cause you are using 20" returns, doesn't mean you can undersize your plenum..
How are you gonna shove the air the return ducts are grabbing in a tiny plenum, just no bueno
These Tranes drive me nuts on PMs :gah:
They never want to start when you jump them out at the terminals.
I like to go down to the thermostat or what ever other device controlling them and start...

Perfect thats what i need! Thanks :D
Anyone know where i can get my hands on the software for windows 8?
Also whats the cheapest adapters you guys know of? (I'll probably just scroll through search for this one)
Not sure about you but when my installers tell me something is "good" it usually is reffering to a 15 minute vacuum on a lineset. So no don't trust them..
You should be putting your gauges on and...
Could be airflow... Is the blower starting?
Is it starting and then over amping or seizing up after running for a bit?
Temperature usually gets that high due to air moving to slow over the heat...
Sorry for late response but thanks everyone!
personally i like to bypass the low ambient when charging systems
but thats just my preference
on that note its not exactly a "problem" if the outdoor fan isn't staying on if its used as...
Incase you haven't solve this yet. You might want to confirm your txv bulb has not leaked the charge in it. The bulb loosing it's charge would cause the txv to remain shut and cause your low side to...
and i was corrected
correct me if i'm wrong but neither of the fans would be running in defrost so it wouldn't have confused him?
I think he witnessed a condenser fan cycling on a very cold day so he probably never...

I have an old displaymor reach-in cooler that looks like its missing some boards inside for airflow. Does anyone know where i could find a picture of the airflow pattern for these old things?
