Maybe that dryer didn't have good exhaust flow by design and was suited
for short vents directly to an outside wall.

Please be aware than any sound dampening material had better be absolutely odor free or the intake will suck up the smell into your condo.
I've tried numerous materials and they all ended up putting...

Avoid any sound absorbing insulation material off net sites. That stuff isn't odor neutral and the intake will draw up the smell into your home. I bought some, ripped it out.
