It's more common in ROMEX wire because nobody wires a motor with TSAT. If in a lab setting you were to wire 100 motors, 50 with TSTAT and 50 with ROMEX ... the results wouldn't be surprising.

I use Ranco A12-1560 and have never had an issue with a new stat. You must weave the stat through the evap when installing. It has a constant cut in of 38F and an adjustable range from 19F-29F.
