gaps between the hard pipe duct & the insulation will
allow condensation to form.
you want the insulation snug but not compressed.
can't imagine that bags of flex are cheaper than wrap......
radiant barriers are only good in summer, no winter benefits,
or so infinitesimal as to be moot.
you can always stage the heat strips so that they don't come
on in full size during times when...
in using larger size flex..how do you keep insulation
in full contact with the hard pipe?
duct would have be be unassembled?
seems more hassle/cost than necessary, unless I just
had excess flex...
the precision of those cut out cardboard pieces...
not too shabby.
except, well...its cardboard.
fire rated foam I hope.
there are a couple of ways to deal with leaky electrical boxes.
air tight boxes
or foam gaskets placed under covers.
metal framed windows will always condensate....
windows are high cost with minimal impact on efficiency.
7-14% energy efficiency improvement is all you get with
better use of time & monies would be to air seal.
starting with attic...
never seen sheet metal to cardboard...amazing!
this should be added to hall of shame!
just curious Marc,
what was the situation that called for the
and, what was the moisture source for the mildew?
my little bottle has 1.8% nicotine 10 ml per bottle.
I'm not understanding the pg/vg numbers.
can anyone clarify?
maybe it is the difference between gas station
juices & smoke shop juices?
on my little bottles it says 1.8 nicotine.
haven't been to the smoke shop.
are teh 1.8 numbers the ones y'all are talking about?
it doesn't have to be thousands of dollars of investment to add fresh air to a tight house.
for years I've used a 12x12 filter back grill, 12" supply box, 6" damper with a
barometric damper, ducted...
"A 'too tight' house is worse than a 'too loose' house (tight/loose = air infiltration/exfiltration). "
Really? surprised to see that comment from you gahvac!
I'm all about "build tight &...
yep, that is how it works here in La.
what do you use for heat?
I don't see where the
Energy Rater was very useful
in determining a Simple Fix and explaining it.
x2 on that.
best of luck.
am I the only one reading this part of the op's post?
"I will definitely find someone to buy this from and install it for me."
doesn't sound diy to me, but I didn't read previous thread.
wasn't this answered in your previous thread?
not much info in your thread(s).
what is heating source?
what is your location?
I'll give it a shot based on what info you've provided:
of course they do.

one of the things I love about these forums is
that folks don't know anything about you unless
you tell em! LOL!
I messed up folks, got busy & forgot to order the vape
slow your roll, there are different ways to do things.
easiest way to add insulation to walls would be rigid foam
sheathing to exterior with stucco. stucco companies know
how to do this.
kewl...now I can sound like the tats crews.
I be vaping...LOL!
(think I'll pass on the tattoos though)
I've been tucking mine into my sports bra strap.
(and yeah for those who don't...
I read the whole thing.
my opinion is that what you have, furred down hallway
with heat system in interior closet is excellent.
that it doesn't work tells me that something else is
"But there's just something satisfying, in a naughty boy kinda way; about sneaking a vape in the middle of a call when the customer is right around the corner...chatting away and none the wiser. "
foil bubble foil insulation is next to worthless.
to achieve even R-4 the spacers between the duct/plenum
& the fbf would have to be perfectly installed & maintained
when fbf is installed.
what exactly is supreme new attic insulation?
great! thanks cajunhvac. I'll check out the link.
the one I have now works ok...just bought a cheapie to see
if I'd like it..or grow to like it.
so far...so good.

supply grills will give you a hint as to where
to look for heating system.
if supplies are in the ceiling, look in attic.
if in floors, look under floors crawl/basement.
there is some kind of...
landlords should make a trip to collect
rent & change the filter. that way you get
a look inside the house & keep system
protected with clean filter every month.
best of luck.
it would be best to start with knowing how much leakage
get a blower door test & duct leakage test.
this is the starting points.
there are lots of upgrades that would come
san diego BL.
you could make it one system with zones for
basement & upstairs, but separate systems
would be best option IMO.
may be that I'm just slow today...
but what indicates that house needs fresh air...?

isn't this the info you asked for?
find the holes the rats are getting in & seal the holes.

Just now, I did another test in the attic. While the air handler is on, I got a can of air freshener and sprayed it near the air handler. Meanwhile, my wife...
