I will give you $75 for it. :D
Do you remember when a 14 oz. can of R-12 cost $1.68?

Basing a meter's performance on somone else's trouble is a bad way to evaluate tools. You have no idea how it was treated.
That is what I want to avoid. A pocket full of notepads and loose pieces of paper with model and serial numbers. I want one nice clean location for any information I wnat to keep.
Well since R12 has been asking all the "meter" questions, I thought I would ask who uses a PDA in their work and how do you use it.
I have a Palm Zire 72 with buil-in camera and I have...
I do not care what others think. I was exposed to fluke quality back in the early 80s in the electronics field, that and Simpson 260 analog meters. If the UEI is built anything like a Fieldpiece, I...
He was saying you NEED 4 or 5 fluke meters to equal one UEI. I was asking why he needed that many flike meters to do the job of one UEI. I found his claim to be rather strange...
Fluke 179 with additional amp clamp and pipe clamp temp probe. Lifetime warranty. it is also a class III meter. Now the temp and amp clamp probes are extra but, you only have one meter.
I...
Why does one need 4 or 5 Fluke meters?

Don't you just love the water damage to the wood that is in place in wahat were windows?
I was on my way home after spending the weekend in the N.C. mountains. I stumbled upon this. It is a Post office facility. This is what happens when you go with the lowest bidder.

I will ask the mall management if i can get a couple of nameplates.
The name of the unit is Melco "rooftop unit"
I am told these date back to the late 60s. THese four units are on a mall that was built between 1970-72. All four units are no longer used.

Well there are a lot of old R12 compressors already in use that are out of warranty. I think that is what I was getting at.
I am not sure if this belongs in the "wall of shame". I am a newbie and have never seen this setup before.
Note the CPR valve on this ICP dual compresor condensing unit. Is this normal or...

i am a noob but, what does it matter whether a comp. manufacturer appoves it or not? Most of the compressors that are using R-12 are not under any warranty.

I have the Heatcraft Refrigerartion systems...
I am just out of Tech school HVAC program and my instructor (who has been doing refrigeration work for a long time) loves the Beacon system. He looks at it as job security as a lot of people do not...
I just worked on a residential frig. that was doing this very same thing. The drain in the freezer section had froze up. We cleared the line and the unit was running fine. We did suggest that they...
Here is how they were installed.

circa 1975.
This Carrier unit circa 1975, is one of five units on a store. The timeguard was bad and it was jumped out to get the unit running again. After that, the condenser fan had bad bearings and a fan from...
Maybe in your area but, where I live (Columbia S.C.), Road Runner Cable modem is as reliable as my phone service. I have had cable modem since 2000 and it keeps getting faster...

Yeah but, you got a FieldPiece Of Crap. :D I have a FieldPiece and and I regret buying it. I will take a Fluke anyday!
I was at a recent job interview and they mentioned that they still had an old induction system still in operation (air and water, I assume). Can someone explain the operation of this system?
Thank...
Why retrofit it? If it is working fine as is, why not use it? There is a company in Clayton GA thate restores these units (they specialize in GE monitor tops) and if the system is working they leave...
That is because no woman (or man) with taste would allow one of those in every room of the house ( I am assuming with a large house, one per room would be needed). I would like one in the family room...
That is interesting. I live Columbia S.C. and most of the oil heating is gone. Now its all Natural gas. The rural areas are mostly LP gas .
