Ran a Zurn coal fired, traveling grate, 80,000 PPH boiler for 15 years.
Talk about labor intensive...a 12 hour shift by yourself and you were spent at the end.
Just transferring coal from silo...
Didn't know we could count ourselves.
1st job was to check moisture of coal from rail cars coming into steam plant, 1970.

Joined the USAF out of High School in 1970, and my 1st duty station had a Coal fired boiler and my job was to check the moisture of the coal coming in on rail cars and watching the civilian operators...
Last Sept, left my secure job as an Plant Operator ( boilers/chillers ) and moved to another state.
