Did u happen to check the plastic cover plate...
Did u happen to check the plastic cover plate that have a dozen or so screws in in that covers the actual secondary hx when I find tail piece issue I usually see that but not always

Ya the support bracket welds broke and that shaft was riding that bracket and just about cut in all the way thru. Made a ton of noise!! Wink! I have seen that style blower come loose in the middle...
