Gee guys, this thread back from the dead. I sold that condo well over a year ago. Anyways, I ended up carpeting the return box (carpet aired out for months), then I wedged up a USPS cardboard box...
OK. Thanks. Makes sense.
One speed blower, not variable...except manually.
My t-stat program isn't being implemented by the units default programmed energy efficiency, maybe.
It's not a variable speed unit. The two 4 inch aluminum tublear "jets" get louder, one does anyways.
I don't know much about furnaces, maybe the unit calls for more gas too.
As far as me...
I posted out of frustration that one tech didn't consider that. He basically told me to leave it like it is. $ please.
I posted to see if any here would say it can or can't be changed, before I...
It probably is just a dipswitch setting needed. Nothing in the user manual deals with messing with dipswitches on the unit, but I checked out the units dipswitch area and just am not sure how to...
The t-stat is a Venstar T1900. I read the manual and believe I set it right to have the second stage not fire up. So, I'm thinking the unit itself is taking control (as was replied to). I'll have...
Ya,well great. A tech will come in with limited knowledge, say it can't be helped (to cover for his vast knowledge) and leave with my 45 bucks.
The idea that units board will...
I read the t-stat manual and set the interval time between the first stage and when the second stage should kick in. I set it high enough a time that the second stage should not have kicked on.
I have a 886 sq. ft condo and live in So. California. 2 years ago I had a Carrier Performance series furnace installed, hallway closet. It's a 2 stage furnace. For the life of me, I cannot prevent...

With a small dwelling, you might want to go with a washable electronic air cleaner. I have a 900 sq. ft. condo and just the cooking fumes would have me changing the flex system air cleaner filter...
You can't really have high energy efficiency and low price too. I settled on the Carrier Performance series, it's between the Comfort series (lowest) and the Infinity series (highest).
Loew's has some cheaper ones. Their a cinch to install, less than a minute to attach them.
The ones pictured below fit onto a clay riser, don't know if those fit over the old full opening type...
Mis-directing airflow at the return area is crucial to reducing noise.
I looked into metal baffles or whatnot, but those on the net wouldn't fit and I'm not about to spend hundreds of dollars and...

I lined the box with sheetrock if that's what ya mean, then stapled carpet over it. Most boxes have exposed framing and I cut sheetrock to fit and carpeted over it.
There are odor free sound insulation solutions, but they are damn expensive. I bought some remnant carpeting and there's enough leftover that I can rip out the old (hand stapled in for easy...
I wanted to keep with a high end Carrier furnace, so what were my options?
Do they make the Performance models in many btu sizes? I thought they were limited to certain btu's.
It's the same size...
I have a Carrier Performance heater, installed a year ago or so. It works fine,
only...I have a small 880 sq.ft condo with the unit in the hall closet.
Since I live in So. Calif. the single...
8 or 9 years seems too early to replace it, if it was a quality unit to begin with.
I had AC installed last year, and the airhandler goes on top of the heater unit that's 20 years old, but still...
Carrier incentives are overwith by this time of summer. The time to hit them up for a rebate is spring. My last years rebate for my Carrier AC install ended around July 1st.
If you're replacing...
After calling the company to schedule someone to check out the noise, I canceled them. I'm not spending $50 for "out of their warranty" service charge to tell me AC's get noiser over time (which he...
A year ago I had a Carrier 38HDR slimline condenser installed on my entry patio deck. This unit is Carriers quietest. I live near the coast so it hasn't exactly been overworked. As of just the last...
This may or may not be the same issue you had...but,
I had too much air flow noise, but seeing as how my 887 sq.ft condo had only 2 registers for the living/dining/kitchen/hall, I needed the...

Enjoy the 4th and don't get your fingers blown off.
So Calif is a safe and sane (as in lame-safe) fireworks state. Sparklers maybe.
Happy 4th America!
