    those old units have oil filled capacitors, i don't know why they last so long maybe the oil dissipates heat better. just use gloves when you have to handle one that leaks, the oil can cause cancer.

    its because the air won't condense into a liquid like the refrigerant does. could be the bubbles prevent the liquid from passing thru metering device smoothly???
