    well the installer is the owner - its a small 3 employee company...

    the guy seems very professional and reliable - all the equipment is here exactly as promised and even a couple of free upgrades...

    I told him I wanted to do the aluminum liner and not the Bayvent kit.

    Th 6-8% loss in efficiency would more than pay for the liner in the first year itself.

    yes the furnace needed will be 100k btu

    because when the furnace kicks-off (at temperatures below 35f) then the Heat Pump is not running.
    i.e furnace is a back-up and does not run along with the HP.

    These contractors probably buy equipment from some manufacturer - whoever's willing to sell to them and they put the Xenon label on them.

    i'm no Pro - but if at all you need heat...

    get a high SEER/HSPF heat-pump and no gas furnace should be needed in your area.
