Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure my overall energy costs are less this winter than last, but it's hard to quantify because we had a 500 gallon propane tank, and I'm not sure how much propane I was using...
The winter rate is actually a little lower than the summer rate.
My usuage is a little higher. About 6 Kwh more per day now than in August. In Aug I paid $113 bucks. And the bill I just received...
System: Trane Xr14 heat pump with XT90 gas furnace. (Hybrid)
Hello all. Been a while since I been here. Hopefully you can help me out. My system was installed in July. The last couple of warm...

Thanks for the help guys.
I have not noticed any issues since then. And all the settings and everything appear correct, so the defrost seems a likely option. It's good to know I don't have...

I guess it's possible. I have no idea of the conditions required to frost the coil.
Seems odd to me that it would freeze up at 40 degrees. Then again, I don't know much about heat pumps.

This morning when I woke up, the outside temp was 38 and the heat was operating in HP mode. I still have no idea why the furnace was on the other day when it was 40 or 41 degrees outside. Who knows,...

Yes, the outdoor temp sensor is hooked to the t-stat and it shows. I went through the setup numbers and everything looks ok as far as I can tell.
Setup# 170 set to 7 (2 heat/1 cool)

I think I understand what you mean, but it never got near 35 last night. I'm pretty sure 40 or 41 was the low. Seems to me the furnace should have never kicked on in the first place.
Just as a...

I had a dual fuel system installed a few months ago. A Trane XR-14 heat pump with a XT-90 furnace. I had propane when the system was installed in the summer. I recently converted to NG...
Dang, I guess this isn't as cut and dried as I hoped. Is the "low temp cutout" the same as the switchover temp from HP to the gas furnace? I guess I will just play it safe and not use the heat yet...
The system was originally set up to run propane. At the time, I wasn't sure if NG was an option. I inquired to the NG company and they extended the main line down the road a little to reach our...
I recently had a dual fuel system installed. I originally had propane but am switching over to NG. Unfortunately that switch is not complete yet. Still waiting to get NG meter set. Have been using in...

Is it possible you have the fan set to circulate instead of auto? I know if I put mine on circ it will come on at random times to help circulate the air.

I had read some stories on here about people upgrading their system and not really seeing any reduction in the power bill. Or even an increase. But my old AC was probably 30 years old, so pretty much...

RE: XR14 heat pump w/ XT90 furnace
Trying this again... I don't think my first post worked. Mods, please delete that other post. It shows as blank to me.
Just got my first full bill...
Thanks to everyone who responded.
They did put a sticker on it saying to use R410. It's right beside the factory label with the model/serial number that has "R22" on it. But if somebody wasn't...
Thanks. I hope this is the case. The person I spoke with from the company that installed it said it would perform exactly the same. But if they couldn't inform me of this change during the install, I...
I called the company and that's exactly what he said they did. Changed out the TXV. He said the R410 coils were back ordered at the time.
So, how does this affect performance? Will the R22 coil...
I just received my warranty paperwork from Trane. On it, they list the equipment covered. I checked the serial numbers, and this is what they installed.

No problem. I'm just trying to be an informed consumer.
I'm sure the HVAC company will have their preference. But as we all know, sometimes their preference isn't always the best choice.
It's not DIY.
Currently my furnace is set up for propane. There is a copper line feeding it. I am going to be switching to NG and the new line will be coming into the house in a different area. My question is,...
Ah okay. Thanks.
How do I determine the COP for my heat pump at certain temps? Thanks!

Maybe it's better described as a bulkhead. It's the area above my kitchen cabinets that is closed in.
Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and seal those seams.
