If it works on the bench it has to be the location.
The problem could be electrical, I would check for proper voltage and also check the neutral conductor. If it works on the bench it has to be the location.

Thats pretty much what I've been doing when time allows,
Kinda sad that a CrackHead will destroy a condenser for 30 or 40 dollars, Even less than that if they get a spiral tube. -
Old Units
How do you dispose of old units, Do you remove coils, copper ect, or just scrap them in one piece? how much difference does it actually make?

Simpler is better..
How much to you actually save.... you can by more efficent equipment but how far down the road is the break even point when compaired to simpler systems.... For my money simpler is always more...

I didn't install this unit , just ended up with it . The unit is a 12 seer Gibson Heat pump. I'm not certain why the unit was replaced, HO said they replaced line sets , really didn't look that way...

I have never seen a filter in suction line, The unit seems to have a bad bearing in the compressor, would any debree that happens to make it throught the accum. cause bearing failure?
