I would chose the 2.5 ton for the added heat in the winter from the heat pump or a 3 ton 2 stager.

I would chose the 2.5 ton for the added heat in the winter from the heat pump or a 3 ton 2 stager.
Heres an idea. When is blowing warm, go outside. Is the fan running? Is the little copper pipe warm but not hot? Is the larger insulated pipe sweating and cold?
Sears always have been a place that purchases someone elses product and puts the word Kenmore on it. And IMO anything with the word kenmore on it is a good product. Most all contractors will tell you...
The reason its a hog hair is probably due to its odd size. You can get hog hair filter and cut them down to the size you need. First of all I want to commend you. Your a renter trying to take care of...
Its possible that the unit is not performing as well as it should. A simple test is go to the indoor unit, locate the refrigerant lines (one is small and one is large with black insulation around it)...
Was the amp draw around 20 per coil? I bet it was
I sold a FANTECH to a guy who had a room not blowing well. It is an in line centrifugal fan. It worked so well that we had to go back and add a rio-stat to turn it down. And they are quiet
I have a guide but can't read the model # from the picture. The last digits mean everything
Is there a serial #
I have been on a lot of call backs, a lot, that the previous tech replaced the capacitor and then walked away, only feeling the lines and such. Did you know that the suction line gets cold at first,...
I am saying that an after market coil compaired to a matched coil is like buying a Bose stereo and connecting Sony speakers. Yea, the sound comes out but is it the sound you want?
There are 2...
Be sure the contractor has license, insurance and workman's compensation. Chose a highly rated contractor. If your getting a new indoor unit, ask about a variable speed system.
Why should...
Besides the Manual J, what should I be aware of when it comes to getting estimates. Are there any questions I should ask the contractor? Anything I should know?
Thanks...Al
Be sure...
It sounds like too much air flow through return grilles. Possibly the furnaces blower could be slowed down to match 4 ton of air flow. 4 tons is a big a/c. possibly its over-sized. The best solution...
I not chose the ADP after market coil. I would insist on the Lennox Matching coil. Also be sure they supply the bolt on TXV valve (thermostatic expansion valve) The CX34 coils are built on already.

So you weighted in the factory charge. Great. Then you say you adjusted it to superheat and sub-cool. Is the indoor metering device a txv? When I hear "adjusted the charge" to me that means you added...
I like the Fujitsu unit. One outdoor unit and multiple indoor wall units can be installed to it. The Lennox is made by someone else and a Lennox label on it. Pretty sure on that.
Chose the 16x25 size. a 3.5 ton a/c need 1400 cfms. Also make sure it has the post filter system. its a green looking filter that can be optional. it make an electronic air filter 17% more efficient....
merv 16 is a Lennox filter and can only be purchased at a lennox dealer. It can absorb bacteria and virus. Its a nice filter. Not sure what an Ultravation progressive Media filter is? Lennox also...
don't worry about the 1000 btu difference. furnaces only come in certain sizes. Who's to say that the original furnace is the right size. My brand makes a 75,000 btu, then jumps to 100,000. It...
This is why Janitrol got a bad name.
YEA!!!!
If you come to the shop in the morning, no pay. Thats why they have you drive to shop in the morning. If they dispatch you from home, you are on the clock when you start the truck.
IMO you have several choices
Seems odd that the compressor is all of a sudden bad. If a compressor is hot, it will act like open windings so option 1 get a second opinion
2) new dry outdoor unit ...
I was under the impression that you cannot use a gas hot water heater with a desuperheater? Maybe I am ms-led?
The customer didn't want the communicating thermostat. He chose a Honeywell Pro 5000, 2 stage heat and 2 stage cool.
As far as the flue goes, its single wall to a masonry chimney with a flue liner...
Years ago I was completed with a service call, about to leave. Making small talk like a good tech does. Anyway this lady had an old secretariat desk, real similar to one my grandma had given to me....
Looks good.
Use the term, "heating, (or cooling) enhancements". ask simple questions, like does anyone in your home have any breathing problems? (allergies, Asthma) if yes, educate them on filter system, UV...
Geo thermal on a oil furnace.
be sure the grommet around the pilot tubing and flame wire is sealed and installed good so it doesn't suck air through there and pull flame away from pilot flame sensor.
It could be the condensate drain stopped up and water is leaking into duct and making noises. Be sure the home, or at least the furnace is level, especially front to back.
The tech should of done a "pump down" test to see if the compressor valves are good. Generally, if the reversing valve is not shifting, there will be a loud hissing noise. The reversing valve and the...
Keep the comments coming!
I have done hundreds of a/c tune-ups in cool to cold weather. I remember a few where I washed outdoor coils standing in snow. The only thing about blankets, cardboard garbage can lids is that you are...
Thats what I said. The company is giving the thermostat to the customer for way under our costs hoping we always have this customer locked in.
GE's are nice and if you need any warranty work done on them in the first 5 years, GE sends their own guy.
The company I work for has made a decision to always include a Ecobee thermostat on all jobs.
What do you think, give me your opinions. All welcome.
Saw how you left the bad one behind. Dude
PRO: 1 system breaks and you still have some heating and cooling.
CON: 2 systems to maintain
I would chose zoned system, and you could have a third zone to that bonus room you described.
I like the flex idea. No seams and more air tight. It is also insulated. It comes with an insulation blanket of r4.2-r6.0-and r-8.0
I think 12 is fine, and 16 isn't. What about going to 14 inch.

acid away works. There is different types depending on what refrigerant you have. I am a big believer in suction line dryers. I also am a big believer that they can stay in if the pressure difference...
First of all, a basement doesn't figure into a heat gain load for a/c. What the inspector said, is his opinion. There needs to be a heat load done to determine the exact size. To me, it sounds like...
We install in the winter. Weight in the appropriate amount of additional refrigerant. Start it to be sure it started. Return in spring to do the 1of2 maintenance plans.
What kind of furnace is that? Armstrong?
This has been several years ago but I went several times over a few years to a home that had an old lowboy furnace in a not so desirable basement. If you stood and looked up when you were in front of...
And couldn't rain get in the intake, which should of been the exhaust. I have seen this on a concentric termination before.
I will be having a class on this thermostat This Friday. The Honeywell IAQ will do this, you need the redlink router.
My example was the largest zone is 20x8. Instead of installing a 20x8 damper into the 20x8 duct, insert a 18x8 damper. Then you will have a 2x8 bypass when the damper is closed. So when the smaller...
