united refrigeration sells .036 cap tube. # tc36 . i would have went with the bc2 .040 . .031 seems too small
It will take more than a few days to thaw. i have seen box's down a week and there still was ice when i took apart a box to relocate it . might want to put a few heaters in it to help thaw

the guy that i work with has and old one that ranco used to sell or give away .i have been looking for one my self i use a small hose clamp and attach the end to a Phillips screw driver then wrap...
what ever i use out of my truck stock .i keep the box top then when i go to the supply house . i restock what ever i used .
what kind of freezer M# S# ? i have seen the door pins get wet when unit in defrost . i believe it was a continentail . the drain line was pitched back making water drip on to box .not in pan

just do what most hacks do . leave it hooked up to the unit and install another and use an acess tee on the service port . and be done with it or pinch off the line cut it free and braze the new one...
the hammer kisses are the dopes knocking the ice off the strips i would order new strips , heater , and be done with it they are sometimes hard to reinstall when they are banged up
