Great Info.
I highly recommend everyone wade through the first 20+ minutes with the Professor attorney, then click on the same titled, with the officer (another 20 min.).
unless the cost is extremely inexpensive, I wouldn't recommend spending any money on an 18 year old system.
Maybe Trane is bailing due to the poor installs. The only way a Trane dealer can make a decent profit is to cut corners on a HD install.
Haven't heard your rumor, just speculating.
Don't forget to throw a coat of wax on after the paint sets.
If that's the case, your system is now overcharged with refrigerant.
Was it disconnect related?:D
What did Manual J call for after renovations?
No one is thinking you are dumb. Just uneducated in the HVAC field.
What "school" did you attend?
You were not taught troubleshooting in HVAC school?
How old is the system? A 2 ton Ruud/Rheem a couple of years ago, should probably be sized at 5/8" and 1/4", depending on the length of the line set.
turn the thermostat fan setting to "ON" and the heat/cool setting to "OFF".
Doing this may help for a faster diagnoses.
Is it a Carrier coil?
Most manufacturers have moved in to using N-Coils due to the height necessary for an A-Coil of equivalent capacity. (especially on 4 and 5 ton)
If it's an ARI matched...
The joy's of renting, no repair bills.
Hmm... maybe you should pay off the creditors you screwed because of your bankruptcy???
Or was that free money?
They are both fine systems. Does the Carrier include the Infinity thermostat?
What kind of data can you provide from the first change out?
The Aprilaires didn't "go up in flames".
I don't know about the Carrier thing, anyone have a link?
With all the 90's and 45's, I would hope that "A" is a 50K furnace.
Beautiful, LOL.
A two stage system, be it a furnace, condenser or heat pump is designed for comfort only. (more even temps, more humidity removal in summer, more humidity supplied in winter, more filtration, etc...)...
Can your existing system handle the airflow loss you will create by adding three supply's? If it was originally sized and designed for what is there now, you will be stealing air from your existing...
There will be no more R-22 condensers produced, as for the evap. coil, you can simply change the TXV
No.
It's telling you it's time for service.
I agree with all you said, except for the above quote. Those "special conditions" can also be met by Rheem/Ruud, Goodman and yes, even York.
Scorches on wall and coil door= -10 pts.
Vice versa.
Have the warranty company provide an ARI rating for your new condenser and old evaporator coil.
$5 says they cant.
By the way, I'd like to take a guess and say they are installing a Payne.
That answer is bull. All returns need airflow through them, no air in means no air out. If only one is pulling air that means you probably have too little air flow through the air handler, reducing...
That's no book, it's a pamphlet.
No.
Burned by cool cwiz again:
Question 3: The right side of the brain is usually responsible for the control of speech. True or False?
you chose False
the answer is: True (Note: Actually, the...
Rheem/Ruud allows that on their 80% models
Lower the cycle, after 10 minutes you have barely gotten the system up to peak efficiency.
Is that when clean or dirty? What is the merv with 5% accumulation? How about 10%?
Manufacturer instructions require one on ours, I guess it's because of air loss through the drain.
Do you want to perform maintenance or toss and replace?
No problem. Where's the trap on your condensate line?
It doesn't sound like potential mold issues to me if this has been happening for some time.
By the way, every house has mold. It's not the mold to be concerned about, but the spores.
All VS motors (that I've ever encountered) can be set to run at 100% in continuous fan mode. Is 30% something unique to Goodman/Amana?
Actually more efficient than you think;)

If you have a leak in the coil it has already "gone out".
Sure, you can replace coil only, but prepare yourself for buying another coil when the condenser "goes out". It may not be a perfect match...
Why not get an opening that holds the filter better?
The electrostatic will cause airflow problems unless your ducts are sized properly.
You may want to consider a high efficiency media filter.
Using a pen as a tape measure, assuming a 21" furnace, The return appears to be a 24 x 8, being generous at .1, it is only good for 1200 cfm.
Not nearly enough.
Why are you downgrading? At least get a Hunter!
Too bad there 'aint no rednecks up yonder, yusw'd have better traffic.
I agree with beenthere. If a homeowner tells me they installed it, the first thing I would do is check the wiring of the thermostat.
I'd check the filter next. Theres probably a brand new WEB to...
