    Testing

    Hi,

I've decided to go with the current system for this year and switch to just the electric hot water next year to see the difference. My current numbers are as follows though:

    Average cost...

There seems to be a bit of differing on this. To add an extra element to the argument I do have a 50 gallon buffer tank and the 50 gallon DHW storage so when the system does come on it is heating 100...

    Model

    Hi,

The model is a DXW-55HW. A 4 tonne unit that creates heat and domestic hotwater.

If I did not run the heatpump in the summer what would the ramifications be in terms of letting it sit idle...

    Efficiency

Thanks for the reply. The COP for this unit is 3.92. But that seems to be under a very specific set of circumstances which makes this difficult to figure out exactly just using that number. What I'm...

We don't have any info on heating DHW only with electric. We just finished the house in December and commissioned the geothermal in February.

The heat from the geothermal unit goes into the...

    Clarify

Just to clarify, we are not using the geothermal for cooling. We don't need to cool in this area.

Also the loop in the SuperStore is more accurately a separate zone.

    Desuperheater for DHW

    Hi,

I've been running my DX geothermal system since February and am quite happy with it. Now that the weather has warmed up we don't need it for heat (most of the time). We have an extra loop...

Great. Thanks. I did actually write non-programable. As of yet overshoot hasn't been a problem. I guess it might now that we're getting into the shoulder months. We only commissioned the system in...

Hmm. That's almost what it was set to before. The contractor said that the HP was jumpered only to use the second stage. At that point the aquastat was set to 110 with a 10 differential. I will...

    Thanks for the reply.

My contractor has setup a 2 stage aquastat on the buffer tank. Originally they had jumpered the heat pump and had a single stage aquastat so that it only came on at stage 2....

    Controlling the system

    Hi,

I just had a geothermal system installed. It was a retrofit but on a home that is brand new. All in-floor poured slabs on 3 floors ICF construction. It's a DX system. I have a 50 gl buffer...

Can you clarify that? I am having issues with flow. The water heaters depend on a flow sensor to turn on. When only one zone is open only one heater comes on. The plumber who installed the system was...

I'm not sure what you mean by radiant units? These are tankless hot water heaters. They heat 3 concrete slabs with hot water. The geothermal will be attached to this system. They aren't separate....
