Yes. Best to have someone experienced show you how. (no schrader valves)
American Blower became part of American Standard (which owns Trane) in 1957.
Some of the low press.(R11/R113) centrifugals have been converted to R123 (also low press.).
Others have been replaced...
The actual take home spending money is where it's at.
You may be grossing more, but how much is deducted for med. ins.? Dental ins.? How much do you pay (contribute) for pension (401K)? Etc........
...wonder if I can get royalties! <BG>
I must say, I have no complaints about the unions compensation package....not sure where you guys are at now though.
Hey Refr,
I'll have to try and catch you in the chat room when I'm on night shifts...
Going really well, no complaints at all. Of course, with gas prices like they are, I do miss a service truck!...
Hey Refr, or other McQuay Tech...
Would Screwed548's initials be R.B.?
If so, tell him Bob T. said "hello"! Been a long time...:D
Hey Refer!
Good to see some more Mcquay techs on here.
We're going to be in your neck of the woods Aug. 10 - 12th, wife and daughter and I are going to do the Inner Harbor tour...staying at the...
"Atta Boy!" :D
Pitiful installation.......spec'd that way? How can they afford to dump the water? Water treatment facility?
No place for tower? This is cheaper than air-cooled condenser?
Same here cave finder! Musta not signed my name on the exam! :D
I've actually used roofing tar/patch to seal spot welds on unit galvanized panels.....just pour it on and spread. (Not one of my prouder moments....) <BG>
Hey guy's thanks for your inputs.
I'll be installing the controls and CC heater.
Thanks again,
Bob
Gentlemen!
I posted over here, because I thought some other HO's might benefit from your answers as well.
I'm writing this as a HO and not a Contractor. I don't do any residential work, except for...
All the manufacturers make thier "Yugo's" and "Cadillac's".
My bad.
It was S. V.(?), not real sure of the the last initial.
Oh well....
I bought a new motorcycle earlier this year, it's become my current pet project. Been spending most of my time on those...
Hey, I heard you were the one who came out and did the inspections at our facility last week.
What'd ya think?
Chillers could use a little tweakin' I recon.
Ch4: Leak at MC orfice flange? I was...
Good point ej45.
I always felt ,when I was an OEM tech., just give them a start signal and let them control themselves.
Some control people THINK they know better....go figure.
On McQuay's centrifugals; at the oil sump fill/drain valve, preferably with unit running for at least 15 minutes.
On later version McQuay screws, at the oil seperator on the discharge line.
Nevada,
Why are you here?
Don't answer that, it was somewhat rhetorical.
I won't bother reading any of your threads in the future.
Been here. Done this.
What a waste of energy.
Don't know why I'm even wasting the energy replying to this thread.....bye.
When I ran service, I used to get 3 hrs. reg. pay if no calls came in. We only got what was on our service tickets if we got called out. We were only required to service contract customers during our...
Hopefully what they are worth. A quick check of Monster.com or Hotjobs.com should give you a ballpark figure.
It is specified by the Mech. Engr. that designs the job. Based on a number of factors as stated.
One of the sales tactics our sales people used to use was that if you had a contract, you would be able to get emergency service, whether the contract was an inspection only one or not. If you were...
Louisiana?
All points noted.
Have a great day.
Just call me the "Spoon" LOL :D
It's been enlightening and a good mental excerise for me.
Bob
RoBo,
ROFLMAO!
Time to get on to another subject....who can we stir up next. Hmmmmm....:D
Outside Rep.,
quite a difference between winning an open bid job and putting a company out of business....
If the non union co. won the contract, would they be guilty of trying to put the union...
Man RoBo, who gave you a wedgie?! I hope you have a kinder gentler side. :D
No doubt organized crime DID have an influence on labor unions, but certainly MUCH less now. Let's not forget the Enron's,...
Hey Refrtech,
Just call me the "spoon". I really get tired of these pro/ anti union posts, so I thought I'd "stir" some stuff up. Your absolutely right, it does come down to upper management....
I worked for an OEM for OVER TWENTY YEARS. They'ra still in business. When I first started; we were basically Marketing support. When the company realized it could make money in service, things began...
Lowtemp and others:
"Unions may have done some good many years ago,but their time has come and gone."
Their time will come again. Maybe not in my life time, but as soon as conditions get to...
Basically just that, a visual inspection to determine the condition of the waterside of the tubes. They could be slimed up or have considerable amount of mud/dirt in them. Personally, if I went...
I was in Comm./Indust. A/C service for over 22 years, finally had enough and went into Facilities Maint. I currently work at a data processing facility which has enough redundancy in it's operation,...
Same here! I've kinda grown fond of the ugly fellow!(by the way, does he have a name?) I'm torn between the purple banner or the plain one. Decision, decisions.....such a responsibility!
Based on what you have stated, I'd definetly go with the much higher efficency Carrier system.
We went through the seal problems for several years, (almost annual maint.!) until they came out with the new bellows style seal. We haven't had it leak for going on 2+ years....
I always thought Trane's purges were/are the best. Should be able to find info at Trane.com
Where do you suggest I wear all those keys? I may need access to an part of this facility at anytime. Can't think of how many belt loops I've tore off, but as long as they are buying the jeans.......
CDE72,
I don't think you missed too much if we're still talking about Dice's refrig. If I remember right it was going wwwwhhhhirrrreeeeeeee! Probably still is.....so, as I said, ya didn't miss too...
It's nice and convenient to have your own pool, but you will put in that much in chemicals and labor maintaining it.
If your young and your children would enjoy it, I'd get one.
You can't usually...
I worked for them for over 22+ years, I enjoyed the work. Mostly centrif, screw and recip chillers. I just couldn't see myself crawling over the units hanging chainfalls for another 20 years so, I...
I'm glad to hear "the tall one" got the job. I heard he was finishing up some Buss. Mgmt. classes. Good for him, and I think good for all there. He should be much better as a personnel mgr. Any other...
Not good, not good at all. The oil pump, as 787 guy stated, will continue to run as long as the MT sees current being drawn by the compressor. Never saw your situation happen with the soft start...
As Willf650 stated, the lower you can run your cond water (and still maintain steady chiller operation) the better. We run our towers at 70-72F. This provides our chiller plant (5- McQuay 400 ton...
It probably wasn't a week or two after I talked to you in the chat room, that John M. contacted me and told me that Jim was indeed toast! Just like you stated. You must have some connections!...
I'd have to agree with Chilly on this one. The operator password is one thing. Giving someone the service password is another. All applicable parameters should be set at startup. Changing them to...
I can't believe how fast they are going down there at Lowe's since they had the track diamond ground. Faster than they qualified at Daytona! And, Lowe's is only 1 1/2 mi vs. 2 1/2 at Daytona! Should...
Yep. One of the instructors I had while working for McQuay Service always said "amps is money". You've proved it yourself. Not only saving money, but a more stable operating enviroment for your...
Your local McQuay Service office (who performed the startup) will have the startup (design) sheet. Anything particular your wanting to know? Is this unit brand new? If it has Carel controllers, I'm...
The party boat and crabs sounds too good to pass up! The wife and I live about 3 hours away from Bawlimer. We won't be able to come in for all three days, but a day trip up there may be doable if my...
