Huh, defrost wiil occur at temp over 35F since your OD coil is below 32F..and since RH is higher at 35F than 15F as an exemple defrost will happen more often.

Always better to put the coil in the return
Why?
- Heat stages will work together. They can't if coil is in the supply because head pressure rise.
- Coil isn't exposed to Aux heat
- No need to...

IMPOSSIBLE to freeze on the discharge line. The only thing that could make it freeze is a big restriction...and if you have a restriction anywhere before the condenser your head pressure will go...
