yeah, that's my reason for wanting this furnace. glad to hear.
I gotta get my ass ni gear and get into the professional members side of this place.
Never heard of it, but probably because we don't install thermopride at my place of work aside from in mobile homes and those are gas units.
thanks for re-assuring me.
i'm a little worried about the heat exchangers on these units. it seems to be a new design that is coated in copper to promote longevity.
couldn't have said it better.
Having sat in on the heat exchanger experts class in philly last week, all I can say is WOW. There are probably tons of cracks that I've never even noticed before.

Anyone install these bad larry's? if so what is your opinion on them?
i've read the manuals online and noticed that both burners are capable of chimney venting as well as the sidewall vent. I...
so what was the point of anyone developing a modulating gas valve? for kicks and giggles?
I'm bringing this thread back because I have the same question but now that it is 4 years later I am hoping to hear better input.
I can't stand First Co, just think that they're cheaply made. I'd...
what part of cali do you live in? if you don't use your heat heavily I could see that as being why you don't notice a HUGE difference.
the idea behind the high eff furnaces (for instance the...
luckily I'm a service tech & can do that stuff myself. I would LOVE to have gas/propane just for the ease of the maintenance & not stinking my basement up like oil when I clean it out, but the...
good post.
my insulation situation is iffy right now. in the very near future I am going to insulate the attic better & correct some problems up there. Also insulation overhead in the basement. ...
So, I am definitely replacing my heating system this coming year. I currently have oil & have a thread asking about which boiler to go with.
I have contemplated switching to propane in the past...
hahaha... just noticed how old this thread is. well, at the time yes the g61v was the best lennox had. n/m.
g71mp is the lennox furnace that is comparable. It has a modulating gas valve & ECM motor. the g61v is 2 stage w/ ECM motor, still a great furnace but not their "BEST".
I've thought about it... haven't decided yet. LP prices are about the same as oil last I checked. I like the idea of the higher efficiency though. I really wish that nat. gas was on my street, but...
any guesses on the age of the beast in the pictures?
yes definitely. I was planning on one of those smart tanks or weil mclain tanks. I like the idea of the tank in tank design. unless I hear bad things about them.
these are small versions obviously.
One can always make a better judgement by getting a large sampling of suggestions. Regardless of bias. I will see what I have for pictures.
...
I've been asking around my company, but everyone there seems to be biased to the brand we install. Hence me asking YOU. :)
So, I have to be honest I'm really a forced air kinda guy... but I have this boiler that needs replacing. It's a stewart winkler "econo-section" boiler. No idea on the age as there's nothing that...
just an fyi to the thread starter. the xc21 is that size due to the amount of coil in it. the coil has to be that large to get efficiencies that high. the size is to shed the most heat possible.
I wouldn't do it. not familiar with the unit though.
i'm lookin'.
seeing as you bought one, what's the price range?
I just asked a avalon dealer about the "perfect fit" & they told me $3,500. That's absurd! I haven't price shopped it yet,...
catalytic or non-catalytic?
what are your opinions on the two, guys?
I found the avalon "prefect fit" to be the most visually appealing catalytic type. It boasts 83.5% efficiencies. This is...
anyone else? :)
What are the best brands out there? I plan on installing one on each side of the house as we have two open fireplaces currently.
I'm looking for efficiency, but have no gas on the street. ...
That particular lennox air handler is not variable... for variable speed (if you're interested) you'd be looking at the CBX32MV-024 model.
If all prices are comparable, I'd go with the Lennox or...
I happen to work for a lennox dealer & must say that the Lennox furnace you have is TOP of the line. The A/C condenser is definately lower end for a lennox. If you're going to stay with 14seer...
I don't know what they would have charged you for the high efficiency model, but in my honest opinion it's always worth the money to go to a 96% efficient furnace rather than an 80%. More money up...
buderus is the brand we install most where I work. great pieces of equipment.
I'll check them out, but I must say I've never heard of them before & the ripoff supermario mascot kinda offends me. :eek2:
I absolutely plan on dual fuel at some point. I currently have a carrier condenser that I got from work. We took it out of a customers house that wanted to upgrade to the Lennox 21 SEER equipment. ...
well, the way I see it is this:
I plan on adding the A/C next spring anyway... so either way there will be an AHU located in our basement anyway. I figured that I might as well do hydro since I'd...
First some background on myself. I've been in the HVAC business for 5 years myself & my father did it as well so I kinda grew up on this stuff, but I've almost always worked with ducted items such...
good practice. most of us don't do that, but should.
resistance to wear against refer oils would be a good test too. :-P 4 daily sprays on the manifold would suffice.
Good to know. I saw that Stuff in FW Webb the other day & chose to stay away from it thinking to myself. "There's no way that is good for a typical split system".
