I think you can but I'd check installation manual. Do you have a water tank next to furnace that also needs combustion air? It might be better to run a fresh air vent for whole furnace/utility room.

Mine cracked the same way on left side vertical...
Mine cracked the same way on left side vertical from bottom up. Gauge still works fine.I always put mine back in the pouch and am careful with it.
