I was in the same situation once, system was installed by expert hack.
Remedy was not as bad as I thought.

First Nighthawks don't last five years, they warranted for five years.
Second they use solid state CO sensors. Those never loose calibration nor contain any chemicals that needed refill.

You are applying voltage to the non powered boards. Current from your ohm meter can, may and probably will burn p-n...
