I agree: solution is too dilute, but the heat transfer in the absorber section is out of whack. Either improper water flow, poor vacuum, and/or dirty tubes.
Since you were able to correct your pump problem the way you did, did you run the chiller through de-crystallization? Sounds like you've still got solution blockage somewhere. I'm surprised you're...
Heavymetaldad - You're probably thinking of the irght one, but you've got the equipment layout backwards. Boilers above chillers.
Aha, just so happens this job has JCI controls. Looking at the available history I'm thinking 6 degrees is a best case scenario whenever weather conditions require 1 of the 4 tower fans. Seemed to...
Have different issues with the extremes. In my mind the swing is far too wide. Looking at ems history swings are worst, as Billy Joel might say, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! Early this am swing was...
Heavymetaldad, You know I was kidding of course - I wouldn't offer you up for 2 Superteks, honest. Nope haven't gotten back to that purge, moved on to bigger and better (easier to understand)...
Having troubles holding anywhere near a steady entering tower water temp. and it's driving the connected 19XR chillers crazy. If I'm correct, the root cause at this point in time is a tower fan freq...
That's it - we're trading Supertek 65 for heavymetal straight up!
First 2 responses out of the gate - no tricks, well maybe not Jayguy, you have a recovery machine that will pull 29"? Wow, that's a trick! If I get 26" out of ours, I thank the recovery gods. In...
Recently I encountered a new situation. Had to recover the charge from a Trane that was being scrapped. New twists: Machine had been converted from 11 to 123. Original charge was 2100#. ...
Not sure why you say tubes cannot be removed, but have to agree damage was caused by a freeze up and it is quite likely that other tubes, not currently leaking, are damaged.
Sorry about my memory loss. DH was first line with poppet valve, so I looked up charge. Largest DH has a nominal charge of 544kg. Is your charge oil logged?
Do you really have a 19DH? 19DH's have float valves.
Thanks guys, Maybe I'll be able to help you out someday!
Been so long since I even signed in I couldn't even come up with my log in info. Previously it seemed to me that there was very little of the kind of help I needed. I've more than 35 years as a UA...
Toptech - Seems that P3 of the second to last bulletin you posted did not come through. This is very good stuff though.
Carrier's last absorber guru (Rich) is no longer there.
Hint to would be responders: Contoller on the front of the panel is a UDC 3300, and panel has many more lights and relays than a North American built electric control JB.
Intelligent and frightening essay itsme!
Anyone know where I can acquire a wiring diagram for a Slavakian built 16JB054? Have control panel issues and no diagram to be found.
Not much detail here, so this is a shot in the dark - got matched software?
Of course you're right about technological improvements. Needed to vent.
Technology is great! Look around and see what it's done for us. The more technology we get the harder it gets to accomplish anything. Cashiers can't make change during power outages. You can't...
99% chance your problem is one of two. Your pump crapped out or you got a leak. No where is it written that a newleak can't occur within seconds of a contractor fleeing the jobsite.
21 chillers employing HCFC-22?
Calling the GX a POS is being too kind. The HX's on the other hand are not bad and I would venture to say the water cooled version is actually good. Compressors are the same on all 3 versions, but...
The YT was and is a great chiller, just the purge that sucks.[/QUOTE]
So drivewiizard, would you please define a "great chiller" for us?
The world's worst purge will work satisfactorly on a tight machine!!! Seek and destroy the leak(s)!
Tecogen's are few and far between. From what I hear maintenance on the engines is a royal pain.
Start up went well. Got a little tripped up by a half ton tank that apparently has a broken dip tube, but the chiller showed no signs of any compressor problems.
You know how they say misery loves company. Planning to roll it over tomorrow and hoping not be miserable, but it's good to know I'm not the first to experience this. Checked today to see how...
Putting the finishing touches on the rebuild of the compressor on a 650t York YKPBNBH-CVC. (Replaced bearings and shaft seal) Today while reinstalling the various oil lines I discovered that the...
Jayguy - Thought by now somebody would have asked the question, not about your name, but rather your location. Got anything to do with the October 1979, British art-punk band Wire release of a...
Recently did a CVHE089 with a reluctant vane section. Fabricated a puller out of strip steel that we bent 90's on. Used 1/2" all thread inside a piece of pipe to keep the strips from drawing...
Sounds like you have low tower water temp on initial start. 23XL relies on cond press to return oil.
DG & DM compressors are similar, but DM has that darned movable wall. Wonder if Carrier doubts compressors ability to make lift during slow acceleration.
Have to agree with heavymetaldad, if that is the noise you hear and you have any sense, you run to the stop button.
Navair86-You'll have to keep guessing, but your memory is pretty good. I do service absorbers. (not my first choice) In fact that's the reason the mechanical contractor I work for now hired me, so a...
Orick, HCFC123 chillers are low pressure, and just because they run with a negative pressure doesn't mean they don't leak - distinction is that air goes from the outside in and the only refrigerant...
Absorbers have large shares of some big city chiller populations. Most notably New York and Chicago. They are not at all common in the boonies.
Just looked at the picture in a parts book and I think it will be obvious when you receive the new one that you've got a compressor teardown on your hands!
Follow this link: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/downloads/HCFCDecision.pdf
Print it out, and go find a good Philadelphia lawyer to translate!!!!!!!
Can, Your pictures look like you got a professional conversion, but I'm curious why refrigerant conversion was selected over replacement. Was replacement an option considered? In this country the...
Getting back to the original post questions. First, you most likely will have enough residual to set a quality, calibrated refrigerant monitor into alarm. How much time do you think you're going to...
RE-read step 2. (Purge is already isolated) Also, and especially in the case of HCFC123, you want to eliminate as much of the refrigerant as practical from the waste product before removal.
Although the dollars your office alotted for hours might not be enough to cover the purchase of the tools you're going to need, you're in real trouble without them.
They're yanking your chain and/or not telling you the whold stroy.
Chiller Mekinak,
I know of a jobsite with 4-19XRs (2 PIC I and 2 PIC II) where the customer claims that one of the two newer ones runs fine when it runs alone, but when it runs with any of the...
I too should have been more clear. There's nothing that says service might not be performed by in-house staff. Also, there are many mechanics running service for themselves and independent shops...
