really??? when the IDFM contactor is de-energized by manually removing 24v leg, motor stops running.
In other words IDFM contactor is constantly energized.

Morning guys, Trane package unit had me scratching my head.
Trane 3ton RTU YCD036C4LOBE manufactured 1/2001

Symptoms: IDFM keeps running, T-stat NOT calling for heat/cooling/fan

Trouble...

looks like it was in a fire and the unit kept running, taking in all the soot.

The funny thing is the washable filter was fairly clean, I believe service techs before me had no idea theses units get dirty/moldy internally, and was never cleaned.
Not the first time ive seen...

I noticed some Techs dont bother to clean the internals on the Indoor unit, Maybe some dont even notice it, thinking the washable filter screen is all that needs to be cleaned?
I agree, No shorts...

You have to charge the unit wile it is running on the suction side. Be Cautious not everyone can do this....

Sounds like the unit has a LOW charge, 2.8 lbs R22 is way low on a 88,000 BTU unit.
