I had a similar problem with a new XV95 furnace. It whistled from day one. Finally, the installer replaced the ECM blower motor, controller, and blower wheel under warranty. Problem solved.

Sounds just like my Trane Xl15i when it starts after sitting idle for a while. During subsequent cooling cycles it's much quieter on start-up. It also has a scroll compressor.
