Absolutely.
I did this work one summer and if the pay is door to door this is a great job as long as you don't mind the hours. In the summer I found myself working 12+ hours a day.
Marv and Bard air units....
I believe JLL literally uses the terms mobile and stationary engineers to describe employees that move from place to place or stays in one compound or building.
Thanks. I found out last week this is in a non union shop.
CT employers are usually looking to see that you are licensed or working towards it so get a hold of the State licensing bureau and look into that.
Looks like there are some jobs on your local CL...
No one?
Anyone know what they pay for a refer tech - not a cooler tech? I know there are two classifications there and refer tech pays more but I can't find a contract online anywhere but Vancouver.
Thanks
I have a couple of pair of 'rip stop' work pants I bought at Walmart. Great for climbing lots of room.
Indestructible and comfortable after a few washing's.
Bay State Cooling in Bridgewater, MA is looking for a supermarket tech right now. They do BJs Wholesales around the area. REECO in Woburn, MA does commercial & industrial refrigeration and I...
Just a parting thought. The person saying this wasn't a safety issue took me to an account when I first got here to pm a split system where the condenser was on the roof.
They threw up a fully...
The meeting was surreal. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. About halfway through I finally realized this was not about anything but putting me in my place and having me do as I am told.
Here...
My boss got to the owner. It was a two on one ambush.
I have an offer already. I'm out.
Clear your head get yourself well positioned and think it through writing down all the data you grab and see what jumps off the page. Obviously head pressure is low and suction is high. Bad valves?...
248 seems pretty low for 100 degree ambient. 100 is definitely high. Amp draw should be low if the valves are going but the pressures do point to that without more data.
Where is that...
Agreed the new pressure control is pretty useless as it can't be read for adjustments etc.
I set it before I wired it in and that's where it'll stay.
Water has been dripping on this equipment...
The customer walked away from me when I attempted to explain the access and safety issues.
I'm working on a walk in freezer that has multiple issues. When I first looked at the location I said no way but was told 'I had to service it regardless'.
The condenser is located on top of the...
I've never worked on this before and we are still waiting for the compressor.
I asked ThermoScientific if there was a preference for which gas is weighed in first and they said 404a first then...
I am absolutely sure that this is a single system. At one point I went out to double check that and since then I've been on the phone with the manufacturer several times.
This is not much bigger...
I've got a customer (a Hospital) with a small blood freezer which takes both 404 and 134 per the manufacturer. we were all scratching our heads at this one.
It's made by Thermo Scientific. I've...
The high side pipe clamp on my SMAN-3 broke in two today (I had an extra) and there is a leak on the high side also.
Less than a year old and very well taken care of. Not happy.
Flat rate companies feed the techs from sales so you know that's going on with them. Some are no sales no pay. I don't know how they get away with no per hour wage.
I've never seen a competent...
Controls, controls, controls. Better working conditions by far, better pay etc etc
Take that opportunity. If you don't like it you can go resi very easily but if you went resi that type of an...
There are plenty of companies out there who would have done time if they were a person.
I have some stories and I'm sure most techs have heard stories also.
I realize that there is not much bandwidth needed for these systems but BACnet is rather dated and that wire is brutal. I haven't seen it but someone out there must have a system that uses ethernet...
Sounds like you're working for ICEEE or something. That's a stepping stone but you are doing great to have a job right out of school like that. Congrats! If you are working for Pepsi or Coca Cola...
I went back today with the new motor and a helper.
I appreciate all the responses very very much.
I just started a new job that's a good mix of residential, commercial and some industrial. Great company great people.
I took a call today to check on the exhaust fans and make up air on a flat...
Well I would expand on what you did hands on at Cheesehead Tech (Packers fan?).
Certainly you had some hands on experience there while they showed you this or that such as brazing, how to check...
I thought this might be a boost for some people looking to get into HVAc as a career.

How long does it take to get a Canadian work visa/permit?
I quit already - couldn't handle it anymore. I'm good at what I do so I know I'll find work fairly soon. If I had stayed on there was too much of a risk that I'd have popped him.
I had a call on...
I lasted one week as a sales tech working out of a flat rate book.
Went to one call with the owner - he wanted to see me troubleshoot a no heat but about 2 minutes later he pushed me out of the...
I responded to an ad the other day from a restaurant chain looking for a wide area coverage tech. They asked for a resume and salary requirements - I sent it in and the next day I get a message that...
Post a resume there and see what comes back its not really a good place to search since they don't date job listings etc. They spam job aggregate boards like Indeed also.
MepatWork, Craigslist,...
Another aspect of this is the company that does not give their name or a phone number just listed as confidential or on CL just the built in email that forwards.
I see a lot of these also. You can...
These places that are always running ads (but never seem to actually hire anyone) cannot possibly be growing that fast in this economy.
Some may not be legit and just collecting phone numbers etc...
I thought ThermoKing and Transcold were everywhere?
I worked for one place that subbed out a lot of installs for good money but the supervisor never bothered to check the jobs out afterwards so when you found problems related to the install he didn't...
You know when you are at the same place with Billy because you get all his repeats. They dodge every bad call also. I love it when Billy hands you are part to install somewhere because they have...
Parts availability is pretty poor in my area for Scottsman. There is a single distributor for a few hundred mile area and they don't have everything either. There aren't enough of the machines around...
There was an ad on CL for an apprentice in the Metrowest area the pay seems low though.

Get your oil license someone will hire you this...
Hopefully you've been documenting this. I'd file a complaint with the State once I found work elsewhere and don't let anyone there know where you went.
They owe you money.
