I posted the model and serial number on this forum and several guys told me the SEER was 6. Then the installed looked it up and said the same thing.
Thanks guys. I have a super bad cold so I won't be messing with this until I am feeling better.
I can't find the owners manual, so I can't check the setting you listed. I'll keep looking for it though.
Thanks
The old furnace was 80,000 btu @ 80% - He downsized the new furnace to 60,000 btu
The old AC unit was 6 SEER - The new one is 16 SEER
Actually I need to correct something. The AC unit installed was 3 ton, not 2 ton as posted.
Yep, we are ecstatic with our Winter power bills and can only hope the Summer bills fall in line as well.
I had the following system installed last October and just wanted to update you all
(1) Bryant up to 16.50 SEER 2.0 Tons 2 Stage Air Conditioner w/ Puron Model 127ANA024000
(1) Bryant...
A funny thing happened on the way to being "final".
The Bryant rep asked me if the Trane rep knew my ductwork was in the crawlspace. I told him I really didn't know and asked him why. He said the...
Bryant does offer a 2.5 ton single stage in their legacy line. I didn't like the design because it does not have a louvered cabinet. We got hit with 4 hail storm this past year and each one dented...
The cost difference between the 2 ton single stage and the 3 ton/2 stage is around $600. He lowered the cost significantly by adding a discount.
I am thinking if I can get a return on my money...
I hear ya. But what I fear is my wife complaining next summer "if" the house isn't cooling and I can't tell her that it isn't the contractors fault, it was mine because I was the one who downsized...
Well, the Bryant contractor says he is afraid to put a 2 ton in because he fears I will come back on them if the system doesn't cool the way I want it to. I am so damn frustrated right now I could...
I kinda thought so. I tried to tell my wife that this wasn't saving any on our power bill, but she thought otherwise.
We have a spare bedroom that the wife uses as a "craft room", it may get used a few times a week. Because of that, we close off the register and keep the door closed when she isn't in there. In...
The cost difference between the 2 ton and the 3 ton is $600.
The sales rep for the contractor just emailed me this:
(1) Bryant up to 16.50 SEER 2.0 Tons 2 Stage Air Conditioner w/ Puron Model 127ANA024000
(1) Bryant Vertical Cased N-Coil with...
Well I just talked to the contractor and he told me he would do anything I wanted but he said he was extremely apprehensive installing a 2 ton unit. He said he trusted his calculations that...
Ha! I kinda thought I mentioned that both furnaces were variable speed.
Thank you for your input. I am 90% convinced to go with a 2 ton unit. Like mentioned, I think just having a new system will help alot.
That is why i am sold on going with the 2 ton. On the initial load calculations, all three contractors said the current 3 ton was too much. Even though 2 of the 3 recommended 2.5 tons, I am convinced...
Thank you sir!
I "really" think 2 ton is the way to go. I just talked to a buddy who has the same size house as me (1500 s/f) layed out very similiar and he found out he has a 3 ton and the...
Looks like this topic died, so thanks for all the help fellas. I think I am going to go with the Bryant system but ask him to install a 2 ton/2 stage - Unless he is convincingly strong in his 3 ton...
I mean to say 2 ton/2 stage or 3 ton/2 stage.
All help appreciated! I have to make a decision before Monday to capitalize of our power companies financing and rebates.
So what would your suggestion be from what you have seen me post? 2 ton single stage or 3 tom two stage? I would sure appreciate your opinion!
On the AHRI sheet the coil model number is listed, I just can't find the sheet now. Thanks for your advice!
I didn't have a blower door test.
I really am not sure how close the calculations were, I guess I should have asked for them. The old unit that is currently working, on the hottest days...
I know the Trane guy was adamant about sticking with a 2 ton unit. I questioned him several times and each time he said he was confident in his load calculations.
I guess we need to throw...
So you are suggesting I ask the Bryant guy to install a 2 ton instead of a 3 ton? Just asking here, but why would 3 of the 4 say 2.5 tons if they all did similar load calculations?
I did want to add that of the 4 contractor visits, only Trane suggested a 2 ton. The others suggested a 2.5 ton. When I told them I wanted to go to a 2 stage, that is why he bumped it up to 3 ton...
First, thanks to everyone who has helped me get to this point. Your knowledge and assistance has been extremely helpful!
I have narrowed it down to Trane or Bryant and would appreciate your...
I do hate to keep asking questions, but I was thrown a curve.
A little background. I had 3 contractors gave me a quote to replace my AC and furnace. After the load calculations two of the three...
Thank you! I was led to believe that matching units from the same series was necessary.
I was afraid of that.
So buying a high end furnace and a mid level AC is not going to work for me I guess. I should just give up because this is all too dang difficult.
How important is it to match say the high end furnace with the mid level condenser unit of any brand? Or vise versa?
Hey guys, if I decide to go with the Trane XR15 and the Trane XV95 - Is there a certain Trane thermostat I should make sure they install?
XR15
We get several hail storms a year and my old unit is really beat up.
Well, the cost difference is huge!
And that is where I am right now.
I was wondering this as well. I sure didn't think this process would be so difficult. I like educating myself, but with the internet, I wonder if I have over-educated myself trying to get the best...
How important is a louvered AC cabinet? I ask because I am trying to decide between a Trane that is louvered and a Bryant that isn't. I know this is a trivial matter, but I always like opinions.
Thanks for the tip.
Is the cabinet included because he didn't mention that. I do have two 20x20 returns on each end of the house.
Thank you!
I wanted to start a new thread so contractors familiar with Bryant could pipe in.
I am glad I took some of you guys advice by checking out other brands/contractors. I guess I should not have...
Excellent point!
Wow. Simply wow!.
The American Standard contractor rep came out today and did pretty much the same walk-thru, testings, calculations, etc. His price was WAY over what the Trance contractor rep...
i am not good at reading the fine print, and even if i did, i am sure I wouldn't understand it. So what should a homeowner look for in a manufacturer warranty? Do all brands pretty much have the same...
My first home had a Trane. My parents home has a Trane. My best friend has a Trane. But I am not married to one so I am going to check a few other options as well.
I like Trane and always have. Do you not like the product line?
Noted and appreciated.
I have not made a decision yet, but I am leaning to the Trane line of products
