I use the FPST4 for SH and SC. Get the larger clamp, or insulate the smaller one when you use it.....just calibrate it every few months, and good to go.

I use my 5c56 to check OA, or duct...

if you don't COMPLETELY RINSE any cleaner away, it will end up bad....eventually.

you shouldn't see ANY soapy bubbles coming off a coil when done rinsing.

just put some pressure to it and pray it with soap bubbles......as long as this thread has been goin, the leak could have been found and repaired.

also, refrig. oil begins to vaporize below 100-150 microns......if any is in the tank or lines, you could be seeing that.

i would report it to the fire inspector. only just to CMA in case some thing does happen.....you were the last guy that looked at it.

you're automatically assuming a leak....and that's possible. but it is equally possible that someone let the charge out. kids getting high, or pissed off perp.

use a vacuum gauge like the bluvac....you'll know immediately if you have a leak...tiny or not.

manifold really has nothing to do with vacuuming a system. should really only be the pump, the hoses, some core tools, and the gauge.

your micron gauge should be as far away from the pump as possible. Also, it's faster to get rid of the gauges and use core tools, and a vacuum tree on your pump.

they sell that because, like...

there was an article in the RSES journal about VRV testing.....they broke down the number of molecules that escape under pressure vs. under vacuum. good article.....pressure doesn't win over vacuum!

if you're dealing with minisplits, that could be your problem.......alot of manufacturers are recommending the eccentric flare tools, not the "old standard".

finally found a downside with my 56 today. had to connect the anamometer head using the leads....and the readings were severely lagging from real time. it took a LONG time for the reading to rise...

what's the problem? shutoff valves, pop-off valve piped to floor, and correct size wire......looks good to me!

love mine.....but yeah, the autorange feature will slow any good readings.....even on the 56.

I completely understand and agree.....BUT....My vacuum gauge isn't connected to the hoses when checking the system.....so their leak rate is a non issue.

I've never had a problem pulling below...
