I haven't posted this in a while, and BeenThere usually beats me up when I do :), but here is the SEER calc for a system with a single speed compressor and a variable speed air handler:

13 SEER has been the minimum for a few years now.
When I hear "high SEER", I think of 18 SEER or greater. 16 SEER systems and higher are typically 2-stage compressors.
The SSZ14 is a heat pump, not straight a/c.
That combination is AHRI Reference# 4355478.
15 SEER, 12.5 EER, 9 HSPF.

I would check the AHRI ratings for the matched heat pump and air handler combinations. Maybe one has a higher HSPF (heating efficiency) or maybe a better btu output.

Hard start caps are generally installed on condensers w/ recip compressors and non-bleed TXVs. Goodman, for example, states exactly this in their install manual.

I used a self-rinsing chemical called ActiClean (I think that's what it was called but not sure) for an evap coil several years ago. I got it at Graingers. They don't sell it anymore. Hmmmmmm.

I did exactly that, 3 years ago.
But I didn't use the "Flordia" based company, nor did I buy a "Gooman".
Except for a bad indoor TXV, so far so good.
Humidity also plays a large role in how fast the indoor temp can drop.
