I'm not being rude but you should have a SERVICE TECHNICIAN look at it. I'm sure the problem can be solved with-in 20 minutes or less.

it could be some grease or something hindering...
it could be some grease or something hindering gas flow inwhich case you can flip it over onto another to heat it up get ride of any grease or any thing that got down in there due to cooking-

Just for a shim? In a pinch like that if situation permits, such as roof level enough and can do so safely, etc., I've used the car jack out of the back of my van........Probably not recommended but...
