I have had the same issue.

I got a HW vision Pro 8320 T-Stat, and yes it will start right away in stage 2 if the temp difference is greater than 0.5C.

I use recovery as well even...

will check them out never thought of heatpump I have no idea how they work. I do not think heatpumps are common here.

I did install it myself but I do not recommend it. If you are not absolutly sure what you are doing get a pro to install it.
You could do more harm than good.
