What is the most challenging service call you have ever had? And how did you figure it out?
When I first started after working light commercial refrigeration I would walk into a store for a PM and would get the same thing, "hey we have a case leaking water, can you look at it?...

I have not been on this site in over a year.........I have been in the markets for almost 2 years and have no intention to ever going back to the light commercial refrigeration end of our trade.

Just curious to see how busy my fellow market guys are in this lovely summer. :spitball:
Last month during a PM at a market I was told the chicken was temping at 39 degrees and is usually not that warm (this is a walk-in cooler of course) so the manager was concerned. I checked the temp...

Yes I must confess........
Almost 3 months into my new job with a supermarket contractor. I am for the most part doing the PM work at our stores.
Since I am of the OCD type and obsess over...
Other than manufacturer's literature no books exist about racks specifically. If such a book was around I would own it....
I just became a supermarket tech not too long ago and can tell you that...
Great explanation Dow.
By the way, how long have you been a Market Tech?
I understand....even though I am not a father, but will be one day.
Whatever you do make sure you let us know how your new gig works out. I am sure your experience as a former market tech will...
How long were you a market tech? Was it the hours that caused you to get out?
Don't mean to get personal with you.....just curious.
Liquid Pressure Amplification is the term you are talking about? I have read about it and it makes perfect sense.
As JP said, how will this affect your TXV's? Once the liquid pressure drops to a given point and the liquid level is lost (or bubbles start to appear) how do you reconcile this loss in efficiency? ...
Is floating head pressure a concept used often in the markets? Or is it similar to floating suction in that it all comes down to the customer demands or service contractor deciding whether it is...
Thanks Crackertech, that's what I was looking for :)
With all of this talk about troubleshooting oil failure controls can someone post a link or tell me where in the educational forums such info can be found?
I have read about this in the past on...
I hear ya, saving money is definitely on the top of the list of things for a manager to do.
In my last job I was called out to a place that had a cooler with a bad evaporator fan motor on a...
How tough would you say it is to get the management in a crappy store to be convinced to get the whole system working correctly (coils clean, superheats set proper and everything else involved) so an...
What is funny is that I too read both threads on floating suction pressure in the last week. They are truly terrific reads and have clear pros and cons to the issue.
I read yesterday from an old...
I agree.
You mentioned a guy just over 40 learning markets......how has he adjusted coming in with no rack experience?
Ah yes Mr. Smith you are so correct. Pure BS is so true.
I remember when a person who is rather notable to this field told me "after a number of years most people become unteachable. They know...
I could not agree more with you Mike. It is such a pathetic excuse that "you cannot teach an old dog new tricks". Learning is a life long experience that is constant regardless of age.

This job certainly teaches us to keep an open mind and keep learning.
A former Sporlan Supermarket Sales Manager once told me (when he worked as a supermarket tech) that "you go...

How often have you seen a broken dip tube over the years?
I have only read it 2 times on this site.....once by you and Icemeister.

I think I know what you mean by wierd stuff.......
It usually starts with the manager saying "hey since you are here we have been having problems with......"
4 hours later you get the wierd...

I figured you ran to get some help from the other market techs
I always get a kick out of the stories about guys turning down TXV's due to frost. It really is a panic moment based off of...
