You've probably got a short or the wire is grounded on your electric heat control circuit. Ohm the wiring out to find the problem.

The dye should specify how much you need. If not, an ounce or 2 would be plenty. Won't need much if the total charge is that small.

The lennox iComfort only needs wireless internet access. No additional gateway. It should work with any equipment as far as system monitoring/adjustment goes. But i have not actually tried it.

As long as the spec's match up, enclosed or open motor does not matter.
