You're a lucky man...my wife won't let me set the temp below 73....ever.
Is it possible to get the install instructions before they get here? Also--do I still need the bypass damper with 19i or will the 19i control fan speed?
Folks...to all of you that have educated me about the issues in zoning a Trane xl16i A/C.thanks.
The major issue has been that the system does not adjust fan speed depending on which zone(s)...
that's probably true....but I was told by the trane distributor this guy was good...I'm pissed at Trane because I tried contacting them BEFORE I bought the system to ask them this question and they...
good luck getting through to trane....they won't talk to consumers. Based on my troubles, I would not zone the 16i and based on the responses from trane, I would buy carrier
Adrian...I appreciate your help..I'm not trying to be difficult, just trying to figure out how to solve my problem...the system is brand new...I can't justify paying another tech to fix this...and...

Just another in my line of infinitely annoying question....tthanks in advance

Appreciate all your help...funny thing is, one of the people I got quotes from said they didn't like to zone the 16i, but a friend that used this installer said he was just ok, and he had to double...
beenthere...you seemed to focus on the fact the system was probably wired incorrectly which may also be an issue..
so your belief is that the 16i is the problem, not the air handler?
Beenthere...I stand corrected for using the wrong terminology...just wanted to give another homeowner a heads up as to how the industry terminology can be misleading--and give him a heads up so he's...
Thanks much...do you know of any way to tell if the system is in stage 1 or stage 2..I'm fairly handy so telling me i need to open something to check is not a big deal
As a homeowner that has a problematic zone system installed, I would suggest you go with someone that is 100% confident in their ability to install a zoned system
Secondly--be careful when you see...
Folks--you've given me a great education over the past few weeks--thanks..just wanted to focus a few questions.

I'm jealous...my brand new 4 ton trane can barely keep by 2000 sq ft house at 75 on a hot day
Beenthere...if there is something else from Trane, please let me know

thanks for all your time guys. appreciate the info. with the cost of energy, it just seems like a waste to dump conditioned air to the return. but, i guess the good part is that the supply air...
sorry to be so dense, but then what is the purpose of the bypass damper?
what system would do what I want...I so pissed off I'm ready to dump the entire system and sell it on ebay..
I've been posting on sev diff threads, but wanted to isolate a question.
In a zoned sytem, if I have a V/S Air Handler, why do you need a bypass. It seems like an absolute waste of energy to dump...

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced sensor to measure the airflow and temp coming out of the A/C registers.
it is a honeywell pro 4000. The system does have a zone panel...does that mean we don't need the 2 stage tstat? Or, will the 2 stage tstat provide better control even with the zone panel?
